Jennifer Sweenie, FNTP
Jennifer Sweenie is a functional nutritional therapy practitioner, health coach, and health-supportive chef. Jennifer has always had a keen interest in food and nutrition. It wasn't until her mother was diagnosed with cancer that she began to research the notion of food as preventative medicine. A college student and novice cook at the time, she picked up a copy of Healthy Cooking for Dummies and spent her summer break creating immune system-supportive meals for her mother. After graduating with a B.S. in business from Tulane University, Jennifer worked in television market research in NYC and Dallas. It was during a 6-month stay in Sydney, Australia that she quickly picked up on the correlation between the abundance of produce and healthy food available, and the general overall well-being and positive attitude of Australians. Her strong passion for food, health, and wellness was undeniable and it led her to the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts. After graduating in 2009, Jennifer completed her apprenticeship at Three Stone Hearth in Berkeley, CA and interned at the world renowned Good Housekeeping Test Kitchen in New York. Jennifer developed and launched the vegetarian lunch program for the LinkedIn offices in NYC and designed the menu and served as Head Chef of the pop-up restaurant Coffee Bruins in NoMad. She has published nutrition articles in Good Housekeeping, Cooking Light and Paleo magazines, and writes for Tastin. Her recipes have appeared on The Today Show and MindBodyGreen. Jennifer serves on the Board of Directors for the Farm-to-Consumer Foundation, of which she chairs the Education Committee, and Slow Food NYC, of which she Co-Chairs the Communications Committee. In 2015, Jennifer was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and realized a whole host of symptoms she had experienced her entire life could be attributed to it. She wanted to dig even deeper into the realm of holistic nutrition and get some answers. She enrolled in the Nutritional Therapy Practitioner program through the Nutritional Therapy Association and immersed herself in their intensive 10-month certification. Jennifer is passionate about sharing her knowledge and expertise with clients and healing the world one person at a time.
